Seniors recovering from a fall, stroke, surgery, or an ongoing condition may not be able to return to their homes or qualify for assisted living due to their high-level of needed care. Designed to offer 24-hour care from licensed medical professionals such as doctors, nurses, and specialized therapists, our skilled nursing services are available both short-term or long-term.

Short-term Skilled Nursing at the Abbey

The high-level medical services provided by skilled nursing professionals are more comprehensive than other types of senior care. In most cases, the goal is to help patients recover and transition into a lifestyle that values their independence.

Abbey Senior Health in O’Fallon, MO offers both skilled nursing and long-term care services for seniors. By combining the two levels of care, residents can receive short-term skilled nursing services as they recover, then remain in our community for the long-term. Our ability to provide many options for senior care allows us to give every resident the assistance they need, even as their circumstances change.

Examples of skilled nursing care can include:

  • Short-term Rehabilitation, such as occupational therapy, speech therapy, physical therapy, and respiratory therapy

  • Vital signs and medical equipment monitoring

  • Injections

  • IV therapy

  • Wound care

Long-term Skilled Nursing at the Abbey

Long-term care includes a range of custodial and medical services that help with basic activities of daily living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, and grooming.

In addition to the hands-on assistance, long-term care gives seniors access to licensed medical professionals if necessary. They can enjoy social events and other activities that contribute to an independent lifestyle, while still receiving help with tasks when they need it.

Our skilled nursing and long-term care options are customized to each resident, regardless of their medical or physical condition.

Seniors that receive long-term care can include those with:

  • Parkinson’s disease and other neurological conditions

  • Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, and other cognitive disorders

  • Chronic conditions limiting mobility and the ability to live independently

  • Terminal medical conditions

  • Permanent disabilities
